Within the mist-shrouded, isolated realm of Kushinada, survival depends on a grim tradition: each festival, a living offering must be cast into the open ocean to quell the wrath of Lord Greed Susanoo, the fearsome guardian deity of the deep. Believing his life holds little value, young Vante voluntarily steps onto the ceremonial altar and plunges into the churning abyss below. Expecting nothing but swift death in the jaws of a sea beast, Vante instead finds himself face-to-face with an intelligent, inquisitive god who rejects the cruel dogmas humans have built in his name.
